What’s More Needed Than Youth?

We live in a society that’s increasingly geared towards judging people purely based on the way they look especially women. What kind of damages does this have on the self-esteem of people? Even those who are very good looking still feel a desire to use tanning lotion to appear like they have a real tan. In fact, tanning lotions can be beneficial when compared to real tans, which give you, cancer at the cost of looking good. Why is it that so many of us feel the need to alter their appearance in order to please others?
Women who are obsessed with their appearance can often go too far, there’s no doubt about that. You can just take a look at some of the plastic surgery catastrophes that have occurred over the years, as celebrities who have become concerned about drooping cheeks and worry-lines appearing have designed to alter the chemical compounds in their visage. Sometimes, when it’s done in a small way, this can create a nicer looking, though still unreal, face. At other times, when the surgery goes too far, the results can look nothing less than bizarre. It’s often the people who get this much surgery who think they still need more, as they’re unwilling to acknowledge that no amount of technology can stop them from the fact that they’re getting old.
There’s no doubt that in this day and age we’re obsessed with youth. It’s believed that to be young and free is the best time we can possibly have. Yet why is this so? Are young individuals actually better than anyone else? Well, it’s definitely so that they have more fun, as they probably haven’t got the kinds of worries older people tend to have, and they’re quite far from worrying about their own mortality or taking care of some kids. But the main issue is that they have a larger amount of disposable income.
Since teenagers and twenty-somethings often stay at home, don’t take care of kids to pay for and maybe don’t have their own home or car, they’ll have plenty of money if they’ve got a job, or generous fathers. No wonder, then, that the companies selling items that wouldn’t be popular among those looking to save their money can aim for this group.
Teenagers and those in their youth have had their minds altered into believing that it’s most vital to spend on expensive products in order to be stylish, and many of those who are older now believe that the only way to be a worthy member of society is to be young.
It’s a strange thing that’s developed, and one that isn’t arranged in reality. There’s no doubt that plenty can be learned from the older people of the world, and a deeper respect for those who have seen more than us will mean a richer and more meaningful life. Since it’s not profitable for anyone to mention this, however, don’t expect to hear it in a TV commercial anytime soon.
